Colorado Climate Corps

Colorado Climate Corps is a multi-pronged strategy to address climate change and advance the Governor’s bold goal of moving Colorado’s electric grid to 100% renewable sources by 2040 and protecting the environment for future generations, by any of the following:

• Providing critical capacity and support to local governments, especially county commissions, to develop and execute climate action plans and/or projects;
• Building upon and expanding existing conservation and youth corps to do hands-on projects, including wildfire and flood mitigation;
• Implementing additional environment and energy projects with nonprofits, higher education, Tribes, and local or state government that accelerate the adoption of clean, renewable resources and energy efficiency, advancing electrification efforts in our transportation sector, mitigate against droughts, floods, and wildfires, and ensuring the conservation of our public lands and wildlife.

Colorado Climate Corps is a collaboration with the Colorado Interagency Climate Team. 

AmeriCorps grants help expand services or reach underserved communities through people power. Nonprofit organizations, state and local agencies, and federally recognized tribes may apply for AmeriCorps funding. Operational grant competitions take place a couple of times a year. Planning grant applications, to help organizations design an AmeriCorps program, are accepted throughout the year.

• CivicSpark Fellow
  • Located throughout Colorado
  • The CivicSpark program offers individuals passionate about environmental and community resilience a unique opportunity to build professional experience in the public and nonprofit sectors. The program focuses on capacity building and resiliency to address climate change at the local level. 
  • Fellows provide capacity-building support to public agencies within the community resilience space through research, planning, and implementation of project activities. Examples include: educating community members about climate change; conducting electric vehicle readiness planning; inventorying greenhouse gas emissions; researching general plan options to incorporate groundwater language; updating drought contingency plans; implementing water efficiency ordinances; implementing a water incentive program; developing community broadband roadmap; developing pilot programs for first mile, last mile programs, EV charging; increasing community awareness and utilization of accessory dwelling unit (ADU) options.
  • Priority application deadline is July 31st, after which they will be accepted on a rolling basis

• Colorado Climate Corps Members
  • Located in the Denver Metro area
  • Colorado Climate Corps members will serve Metro Denver residents by installing in-home energy and water saving measures (low-flow toilets, kitchen aerators, bathroom aerators, programmable thermostats, and LED light bulbs) and educate the community about the importance of energy and water conservation.

• Conservation Corps Advanced Resource Crew Member, Assistant Crew Leader, and Crew Leader Positions- Rocky Mountain Youth Corps
  • Located in Steamboat Springs, CO
  • Rocky Mountain Youth Corps' Advanced Resource Crew aims to be a dynamic team made up of experienced corps members. This crew will be used as a potential resource for technical projects, backcountry hitches, chainsaw/crosscut work, and be made available as an additional resource to local forests in the event of wildland fires. The crew will operate on a hitch model with time off between projects. Members are asked to have extraordinary flexibility and a commitment to a holistic conservation experience.

Learn more about serving with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps

• Assistant Crew Leader and Crew Leader Positions- Western Colorado Conservation Corps
  • Located in Grand Junction, CO
  • Mentor and lead a crew of 8-10 youth, 17-25 years old, in day-to-day service activities on the project site and at camp along with 2 Assistant Crew Leaders (ACL).
  • The Western Colorado Conservation Corps offers opportunities for young adults to spend a season serving on meaningful conservation projects throughout Western Colorado. Projects may include a variety of trail construction/maintenance, fence construction/removal, invasive species removal, fire fuels reduction, habitat restoration and/or historic preservation work.
  • AmeriCorps members have the opportunity to earn up to $3,172.50, in addition to a bi-weekly stipend, from an AmeriCorps Education Award (restrictions apply).
